2 new factionfiles. The first faction: basicly
the story is that they are the remnants of an ancient alien race that
has crashed landed on Planet with one intent in-mind, populate.
The second one is called Big Tobacco Industry
and is a parody of the Tobacco Industry.
We saw over
Game Sages an unconfirmed release
date for Alien Crossfire. The release should be on October 2nd 1999!
Finally we're proud to tell you that The Arrival and Prima Games are working

There's a new scenario in our big files section:
It's called "Coming of the Damned" by doctor_m@cryogen.com.
In the year of our lord 2300 the Damned
was exiled from Earth for crimes against humanity. 40 years later they
have arrived on planet. They quickly overwhelmed the believers and executed
sister Miriam. Now the Spartan Federation leads the struggle to purge
the foul taint of the Damned from planet. Can they hold together their
alliance of war or will all submit to the rule of the damned?

Xyrex has
recently been developing a set of custom factions for SMAC and has hit
a wall. Not only are the commands not working for some of them but the
finished faction never seems quite right. This is a BETA! If you could
help, mail us! There are currenlty
three factions in the collection, please feel free to mess with them but
do keep the heading and credits at the top.

There's a
new site called "SMAC/Bryce 3D". This site is devoted to those
of us so obsessed and addicted to Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri that when
we're not actually playing it, we're building it with Bryce 3D. Here you
can find downloadable predesigned objects that you can import into your
own SMAC realms, request full-screen (800x600 BMPs)free via email, and
hop to other related sites.

A map of Arrakis,
from Dune, and the Borehole Cluster scenario are now in the files
section.
I am currently working on a multiplayer forum, but it will take a lot
of time considering that it is my first Perl script ever (and an ambitious
first on at that :-) ). It will have a player list, a listing of all the
current PBEM and MP games being scheduled, a button to join that game,
a button to make a new game, and all sorts of cool stuff. Stay tuned!
There are two new links. Also, the link to the
AC Zone has been taken down. It will be missed.

Jeremy sent us a new map based apon the aliens.You can download it
in our files section.
Marian (Webmaster of the Alpha Centauri Zone) annouced that he killed
the AC Zone. He was just too busy to continue it. The ACZone was one of
the first Alpha Centauri pages on the web.
Patch 4.0 will soon be available. SMACers asked on the forums at
www.alphacentauri.com and Jeffrey Morris replied: "Version 4 has been
in test for about 2 weeks at EAHQ and points abroad. English is looking
good, though a few revisions have required resubmissions. Translation
strings for European versions are falling into place, allowing us to make
foreign language builds available to test. As soon as they're all signed
off, up they go." When asked for a specific or not so specific date,
he posted: "I could guess, but that's worse that no information. If
I learn more, I'll post it, but I probably won't have any reliable date
until it's signed off."
